Directions from the N1 North:

- Find your way to the N1 North to Pietersburg;
- Pass Pretoria East and the Magalies mountains;
- Proceed north and under the Petroport bridge;
- Turn off at the Pyramid turnoff. This point is 76km from the Milkyway in Yeoville. Turn left here;
- Proceed 4.6km to a T-junction and turn right onto the R101;
- Proceed for 2 km and turn right on the Bultfontein turnoff;
- This goes onto a bridge that backs over the R101. Proceed for 12.5km;
- Turn right onto the M35 Soutpan road;
- Proceed straight for 15.8 km until you see a turnoff to the left to Tswaing. This is just before the Soutpan Trading Store;
- Tswaing is just 2.4km down this road.

Or from Central Pretoria:

- Take the R566(Rosslyn), then turn right to Onderstepoort at the next three-way stop;
- Drive about 35km through the informal settlements of Soshanguve;
- You'll pass a sign reading "Soutpan 5km" on the way;
- Turn left at a Soutpan Trading Store, and follow the gravel road for 2.4km;
- Tswaing Crater Museum is on the left;
- The crater itsef is on the right.
